Common questions
Straight answers, no waffle.
The questions small business owners ask before they brief us. If yours is not here, send a note and we will reply within a working day.
- How much does a small business website actually cost?
- Most sites land between £500 and £4,000 depending on complexity. A simple brochure site is typically £500 to £1,500. A standard build with bookings, payments, member areas or similar is £1,500 to £4,000. Custom apps with logins, dashboards or AI features start at £4,000 and we scope them properly before we quote. Prices are indicative until we chat, then we confirm a fixed all-in price. No hourly billing, no surprise invoices. Excludes VAT.
- How long until my site is live?
- Simple sites are usually live within a working week of you signing off the brief. Standard builds tend to take two to three weeks. Custom apps are scoped individually, four to six weeks is typical. We commit to a fixed timeline before we start.
- Will I be able to update the site myself?
- Yes. On handover we show you how to change copy, swap photos, add a service, update prices and edit anything a business owner would reasonably want to change. If you would rather we did it, we offer an optional aftercare retainer at £150 a month.
- Do I own the site at the end?
- Yes. You own the domain, the hosting account, the customer data and the code. If you ever want to move to a different developer, you can take everything with you. We are not a lock-in builder.
- What about ongoing costs?
- Hosting and the domain together are around £15 a month and you pay those providers directly. Stripe takes its standard transaction fee on any payments you process. There is no mandatory subscription to us to keep the site running.
- Can you take over a site we already have?
- Sometimes. If the existing site was built on a sensible platform (WordPress, Webflow, Shopify and similar) we can often pick it up. If it was built on a proprietary builder you do not have the code for, a rebuild is usually faster and cheaper than fighting it.
- Do you work with businesses outside the UK?
- Yes. We are based in the UK but we work with small businesses across the UK, Ireland and the EU. Payment is in GBP or EUR. Calls happen on Google Meet or a phone, whichever you prefer.
- What happens if something breaks after launch?
- You email or phone us. We fix it. Anything that is a genuine bug in our work we put right at no cost. Small tweaks in the first few weeks after launch are part of the service too, not just bug fixes.
